Resumen
Este libro nace de una constatación sobria y, a la vez, esperanzada: en América Latina, cada generación vuelve a escribir la política como si fuera la primera. Se heredan viejos dolores, desigualdad persistente, violencias territoriales, fragilidades institucionales, dependencia externa y, sin embargo, en la intemperie de cada crisis rebrotan lenguajes de justicia. La izquierda latinoamericana, con su pluralidad de acentos y sus contradicciones, ha sido la gramática más insistente de esa reparación; y lo ha hecho en un mundo que cambió de piel: de la Guerra Fría a la globalización fincada en tratados y cadenas de valor, del Washington consensus a una interdependencia triangular en la que Estados Unidos, China y la región negocian, disputan y se condicionan mutuamente. En ese tablero, el “nuevo socialismo latinoamericano” no puede nombrar un dogma ni un catecismo: designa una práctica, falible, situada, que intenta convertir crecimiento en derechos, comercio en autonomía, memoria en política de no humillación.
